Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised Privacy Policy on the Site, update the “Last updated” date, and take any other steps required by applicable law.

Information We Collect About Your Usage
We may automatically collect certain information about your interaction with the Services (“Usage Data”). To do this, we may use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies (“Cookies”).
Usage Data may include information about how you access and use our Site and your account, including device information, browser information, information about your network connection, your IP address, and other information regarding your interaction with the Services.

Our Platforms and Service Providers
We use Shopify to host our store and support commerce functions. We also use:
-
Klaviyo for email and SMS services.
-
RH: Product Quiz Builder by RevenueHunt for our product quiz.
-
Judge.me for reviews.
-
Bloop for referral and loyalty features.
-
Appstle for subscription features.
Our store also has connections to Meta’s Facebook and Instagram services, Google and YouTube services, Google Analytics, and Pinterest for advertising, measurement, or related functions. The information received by each provider depends on the features enabled, your interactions, your privacy choices, and applicable requirements.
Other providers may assist with payment processing, shipping, information technology, customer support, accounting, and professional services.
We remain responsible for personal information under our control and require appropriate protection when providers process information on our behalf.
Some platforms also process information for their own purposes under their privacy policies and applicable law. Our use of a provider does not eliminate our own privacy obligations.
How We Use Your Personal Information
Providing Products and Services
We use your personal information to provide the Services and perform our contract with you. This includes processing payments, fulfilling orders, sending notifications related to accounts, purchases, returns, exchanges, or other transactions, creating and managing accounts, arranging shipping, and facilitating returns, exchanges, and other account features.
We may enhance your shopping experience by enabling Shopify to match your account with other Shopify services you choose to use. Shopify processes that information as described in its applicable privacy policies.
Marketing and Advertising
We may use your personal information for marketing and promotional purposes, such as sending marketing, advertising, and promotional communications by email, text message, or postal mail, and showing advertisements for products or services. This may include using your information to tailor the Services and advertising on our Site and other websites.
Where applicable, we may rely on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for permitted marketing activities. Where consent is required for electronic marketing, tracking, or other processing, we rely on that consent instead. You may withdraw consent or object to processing as provided by applicable law.
Security and Fraud Prevention
We use your personal information to detect, investigate, or take action regarding possible fraudulent, illegal, or malicious activity.
If you register an account, you are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. We recommend that you do not share your username, password, or other access details. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
If you are an EEA resident, the legal basis for these processing activities is our legitimate interest in keeping our website secure for you and other customers under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Communicating with You and Service Improvement
We use your personal information to provide customer support and improve our Services. Where applicable, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to you, providing effective services, and maintaining our business relationship under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Product Quiz
We use quiz responses to recommend products and understand the preferences you share with us. If you provide contact details with your responses, those details may associate the responses with you. Any use for marketing is subject to applicable consent requirements.
Some information you choose to provide about scalp conditions or health-related concerns may be sensitive. Please provide only information necessary for your request. Where required, we obtain express consent for collecting, using, or disclosing sensitive information.
Shopify and Shopify Network Intelligence
Shopify processes personal information when you visit and purchase from our store. Shopify Network Intelligence is enabled for our store. It supports enhanced services, including advertising and personalization, that may use information from your interactions with our store, other merchants, and Shopify.
To provide these services, information is shared with Shopify and relevant third parties, which may be located in other countries. Applicable consent and opt-out choices affect how information is used.
For details about Shopify’s practices and choices available directly through Shopify, see Shopify’s Consumer Privacy Policy and Shopify’s Privacy Portal.
SMS Marketing
When you subscribe to our text messaging program, we collect your mobile telephone number and information recording your SMS consent. We use this information to send the marketing texts you have agreed to receive, including promotions and product updates, and to manage your subscription.
We use Klaviyo and other providers involved in operating and delivering the messaging program, such as telecommunications providers. We may provide your telephone number, SMS opt-in information, and consent status to these providers solely as needed to provide that program.
We do not sell SMS opt-in information or consent status, or share it with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or for purposes unrelated to providing the messaging program. General sharing language elsewhere in this policy does not authorize those uses or disclosures of SMS opt-in information or consent status.
Providing a telephone number for an order, delivery, or customer-service request does not by itself constitute consent to marketing texts. SMS marketing consent is not a condition of purchase.
You can unsubscribe from marketing texts by replying STOP. For assistance, contact hello@thehighendhippie.ca.
We may retain consent and opt-out records as needed to honour your choices and comply with legal obligations.
Cookies
Like many websites, we use Cookies on our Site. For information about Cookies used to power our Shopify store, see Shopify’s Cookie Policy.
We use Cookies to power and improve our Site and Services, remember your actions and preferences, run analytics, and understand user interaction with the Services. We may also permit third parties and service providers to use Cookies to tailor services, products, and advertising on our Site and other websites, subject to applicable consent requirements.
Most browsers automatically accept Cookies by default, but you can choose to remove or reject them through your browser controls. Removing or blocking Cookies may affect your experience and cause certain features or functionality to work incorrectly or become unavailable. Blocking Cookies may not completely prevent information sharing with third parties, such as advertising partners.
While your browser may allow you to transmit a “Do Not Track” signal, our Site is not designed to respond to those older signals. This is distinct from other privacy preference mechanisms that may be supported by our platforms or required by applicable law.
Where consent is required, we seek it before activating the relevant optional technologies. Our cookie banner is configured for Quebec and selected European regions. Where available, use the banner or Cookie preferences link to review or change your selections.
Outside these regions, applicable notice, consent, and withdrawal requirements still apply. Contact us if you need assistance with your privacy choices.
Depending on the integration, information may be sent through browser pixels or server connections. Browser controls alone may not stop every form of sharing.
How We Disclose Personal Information
All disclosures described below are subject to applicable consent requirements and the restrictions on SMS opt-in information and consent status in the SMS Marketing section.
We may disclose personal information in the following circumstances:
-
With vendors or other third parties performing services on our behalf, such as IT management, payment processing, data analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfilment, and shipping.

Please avoid including unnecessary sensitive or confidential information in public reviews or other public content.
Third Party Websites and Links

Security and Retention of Your Information
We are required to make reasonable security arrangements to protect personal information under our control against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal, or similar risks.
No security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee perfect security. Information sent to us may not be secure while in transit. Please do not use insecure channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information.
How long we retain personal information depends on factors such as whether it is needed to maintain your account, provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce applicable contracts and policies.
Retention periods vary by information type and purpose. Legal, accounting, and dispute-related obligations may require us to retain some records after a deletion request. Unsubscribing does not automatically delete all information. Limited consent and suppression records may be retained to honour marketing preferences.
